The 2 ED elements help control the green and purple fringing while the two aspherical elements help control the corner sharpness while keeping the coma under control. I’ve also dropped the lens without any consequences and after a year of shooting almost 3,000 photos with this lens, it’s still just as good as the day I got it. The color in those pictures is made possible by three things: very slightly underexposing, Velvia and Color Chrome Effect. The 35mm is probably he kind of lens that might end up glued to your camera because it’s easy to pick up and go. Not because is particularly better, both are similar in size with the aperture ring, but because the 23mm is an equivalent of about a 35mm lens.

plus the tremendous upgrade to the 35 F2, I’m leaning more and more to that ‘standard’ size for my street work. which helped launch the system almost four years earlier – a simpler option perhaps, designed for smaller bodies or budgets. The Fujifilm nano-GI coating clearly works extremely well, but I would always use a lens hood anyway as a “belt and braces” approach. It’s a great piece of glass that must not be missed, even if this is not your native focal length this lens might just well win you over as it did me.Both lenses are quite capable of blurring backgrounds, and rendering point sources into satisfying blobs at large apertures or with sharp diffraction spikes at small values. Without the built-in profile, vignetting is still well controlled except at f2 where it is most apparent on the left and right edges. when software correction is off the table, there’s something about it that makes me love having it on my camera. XF lenses have always been excellent save for a loose or rough-feeling aperture rings here, and an inconsistent focus ring there, but the XF 35mm F2 WR tightened all that up and just feels “right” in use. The XF 35mm F2 R WR has 9 lens elements in 6 groups (including two aspherical elements) and achieves the perfect balance of high image quality, compact size and autofocus speed as fast as 0.

extensively on all bodies up to the XE2 and speed was always so so but with this little black (my preference) monster with the XT1 4. isn't important for digital, where crazy high ISOs let us shoot with pretty much any lens in any light. R, which was part of the first batch of three lenses released with the Fujifilm X-Pro1 in early 2012. The intention is to display ads that are relevant and engaging for the individual user and thereby more valuable for publishers and third party advertisers. What I feel Fujifilm needs to accomplish when they take away an f-stop of light, is to add something else in other areas of the lens design. We were being taught about the human eye because design displays and image processing algorithms require an understanding of the human vision. would win on bokeh and potential shallow depth-of-field effects with a focal ratio that’s one stop brighter, in my tests it was much closer than you’d think.

But, if you are shooting something very close, then focus breathing really has an effect on the image and it kind of zooms in quite a bit, causing the lens to perform maybe more like a 38mm. Of course there are no fringes at all when things are perfectly in focus; spherochromatism is what happens to things that are out of focus. The statement always seemed odd to me given that when I stared straight ahead, keeping my eyes from moving side-to-side, I see “wider” than 50mm.

Perhaps we’re using different bodies (XT1 in my case), but I certainly don’t find the XF23 to be an AF speed demon.

Summary The Fujifilm XF 35mm f2 is a compact prime lens with standard coverage that performs much better than you might expect. MPB will also keep you informed about the status of your gear at every step of the way and the whole process is carbon neutral. Half depress the shutter to autofocus on the subject and then fine adjustments can then be made using the manual focus ring. While it’s not really going to give you a real up-close view of anything, nor a very wide view, I consider the 50mm to be sort of an everyday lens and it is especially nice for someone that also shoots a lot of portraits, friends or family but more importantly, it’s a great lens to travel and landscape. Designed for Fujifilm APS-C mirrorless cameras, this new compact Fujinon 35mm f/2 lens offers the promise of lower cost than the f/1.If you own the 23mm f/2, you’ll know that it’s quite soft and doesn’t hit its sweet spot until you start stepping down. The XF 35mm f/2 R WR is ideal as an all-day carry-around travel lens and you will especially enjoy the silent and fast autofocus while out in the field.
