Towards the end of the episode, a clown in the party wipes off his makeup and reveals himself as Zabka. I’m glad you mentioned Miyagi because no conversation about the book would be complete without mentioning Pat Morita and his influence on your life. One of the main characters, Barney Stinson, asserts that Macchio's character, Daniel LaRusso, in The Karate Kid is not the real karate kid; instead, it's Johnny Lawrence, Daniel's nemesis in the film. Typical Hollywood politics came into play, with one franchise being at Columbia Pictures and the other at Universal Studios, and, in short, the Back to the Future discussions didn’t go any further. I survived it in a very good way and came out on my feet and that’s also something to take away from this book, as well.

As a side note, the previous year, Francis Ford Coppola had had a lot of us actors reading and auditioning together for The Outsiders. At the end of the day, whether it’s Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Michael J. He finally admits his identity after hearing Eugene play some blues (but notes that Eugene "plays with no soul"). Willie and Eugene are transported back to Mississippi, where they start walking again, talking of cities they plan to visit. After working as an assistant editor for Warner on Marvel's black-and-white magazine line, Macchio became Dennis O'Neil's assistant editor. Some of it just had to do with my sensibilities and not spending too much of the money I was able to take in while also living modestly for a while. I end up spilling my guts to Macchio about an aspect of The Karate Kid story that confused me when I was small.

As he continues to bring compelling stories to the screen as his longtime beloved character, Daniel LaRusso, I wondered what it is about this moment in Macchio’s career that made him want to tell his life story now. That came out of a development deal that I had in 1994, the same year Friends came out of Warner Bros.Since The Karate Kid first crane-kicked its way into the pop culture stratosphere in June 1984, there hasn’t been a week Ralph Macchio hasn’t heard friendly shouts of “Wax on, wax off” or “Sweep the leg!
