COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT FOR TRAVEL: Take with you on holiday or trips away; measuring only 13cm long, this steam iron will fit into the tightest space in a suitcase or bag. It is light-weight and compact, so no matter where you are in the world, you would never have to be without perfectly pressed clothes. The Si2 comes with its own travel pouch for easy storage and transportation. Now, this thing gets hot at MAX temperature. I have to be careful not to scorch my fabrics or melt my threads! However, because it gets so hot, this mini-iron does work surprisingly well for setting Perler beads for my daughters. Temperature is everything when it comes to iron and sewing. There are many times you will be using a variety of fabrics which require different temperatures. Those styles of projects require a small tip and area to be able to get into small areas, work on more intricate pieces and be more in control. Features To Look For In A Mini Iron When I started sewing doll clothes and clothes for my daughter’s Barbie dolls, some of the specialty tips for the Clover iron came in VERY helpful! Especially the slimline tip, which fits right into the small pants legs and armholes to flatten the seams.

While I saw the upside to this I personally didn’t want to try and control a hot piece of metal without a definitive handle. That, and the Dritz Petite Mini Iron is a little bulkier (1″x2.5″ sized soleplate), making it less likely to get into those super tiny crevices and between buttonholes. I have two, my large regular iron is perfect for big projects and ironing large pieces of fabric. Whereas my mini iron is perfect for small sewing projects, intricate designs, and pressing open seams. There are many, many different types of small irons if you’re interested in adding one to your craft room. Here are some of my favorite options! 1. Steamfast Mini-Iron

Isn’t this the cutest little tiny iron you’ve ever seen? The soleplate is only slightly larger than a quarter! MINI 408-WATT STEAM IRON, this compact and lightweight iron offering a temperature range up to 230°C, allows you to remove wrinkles from most fabrics, making it suitable for your craft project ironing needs. What’s cool about the Dritz Mini Iron, though, is the head adjusts to 4 different positions! It also has digital controls, making it a little more high-tech.

Clover Mini Iron

There are a couple of features you might want to look into before purchasing a mini iron. Steam Function There are several sizes of Cricut Easy Presses, the smallest of which is the Easy Press Mini. My sister has one and loves it! (I have a 9″x9″ Cricut Easy Press 2.) It removes fabric wrinkles like a boss, and, used in conjunction with my wool ironing mat and wooden tailor board, I get incredibly sharp folds. The one time I do get out my big iron, though, is when getting wrinkles out of fabric before starting to sew. That takes forever and a day with a miniature iron. The Best Mini-Irons for Sewing, Quilting, and Crafting

They’re particularly useful for accessing small, unusually-sized spaces such as the tongues of shoes and between buttons on a shirt. Yes, you most definitely can and I would recommend you to still use your regular iron. You will have plenty of reason to use your regular size iron and you may never want to get a mini iron and that is okay. If you’re not quite committed to the tiny iron lifestyle yet, though, this is a nice-sized “medium” iron! For example, it has dual voltage (120V/240V), so it will work in more locations. And, like the Steamfast mini, it has the option of steam or no steam, and it also has a temperature control dial to allow use with an array of fabrics. I recently joined the world of mini irons and I am honestly astounded. I love my mini iron but more on that later. While I was doing my research on which I wanted to buy I saw a couple that didn’t actually have a handle. Not all irons have a good steam function, there are going to be times that your fabric or project will require a little steam to get things going. These are the best mini irons for sewing on the market. These are all products that have been tested on used by fellow sewers and quilters. Prym Mini Steam Iron

The original mini-iron simply comes with a tiny soleplate. The Mini Iron II, however, has 5 total compatible iron tips. These are awesome! Prym is a brand I have used and bought from in a number of tools and equipment over the years and have never felt failed by the brand. SPECIFICIATIONS: Weight: 495g. Water tank capacity: 50ml. Soleplate size: 7.3cm squared. Temperature range: 65-230°c. Power: 375W. UK plug fitted. HEAT AND STEAM SETTINGS: Efficiently powered by 375W, this iron will take just seconds to heat up fully and is ready to use almost immediately. It features a variable heat setting which can be changed by turning the knob on the top of the iron. It also has a steam function which is used by pressing the steam burst button on the front of the iron. A red indicator light on the front of the iron lets you know when the irons at the optimum temperature. Besides being tiny and weighing less than a pound, it fits great in my hand. It stores efficiently, and the cord wraps well around the handle.I really like having the option to steam. I get MUCH better results when steam is added when pressing on my tailor board or using the board as a clapper.
