Thanks to its rare CA3080 “metal can” integrated circuit (IC), this pedal yields quieter operation, greater transparency, and increased dynamic range. Please give us the reason for your assessment in the following text box and – if possible – your e-mail address for further questions.

I don´t have to much to say about this pedal but, that´s a compressor pedal that does this function very well. While the Dyna Comp M-102 isn't hand-wired and doesn't feature the old CA3080 chip, the sound is so close that you can hear a unified sound over the Dyna Comp's decades. We will be using a Gibson Les Paul Studio through a Victory Countess V30 MKII with the Dyna Comp running through the front of the amp. I can think of only one improvement that I’d love to see MXR make to the Dyna Comp Deluxe in the not too distant future; make a mini pedal version like they’ve done with the Carbon Copy. Maybe this has an application that I don’t fully appreciate but I don’t like what it does and leave it permanently off – I actually do the same for the ‘modulation’ setting on the Carbon Copy, for me both of these little buttons are redundant but I have no doubt that some people get use out of them. It has two controls: "Output" controls the output level, and "Sensitivity" determines the amount of compression. Using an unsecured network in a public place can be risky as unauthorised people may try to intercept anything you're doing online.

You'll probably set the Output at about 3 o'clock and forget about it, and then all you have available is the Sensitivity to play with (I go for 9 o'clock as an always-on setting, and sometimes ramp it up for specific purposes), but it just works and sounds great. I noticed a difference with the double stops at the beginning of clip sounding more cleaned up than it did without compression. The muddiness that came from playing double-stop chords with a crunch setting seemed to be cleaned up by the DynaComp in a nice way that I was not expecting. But, as you strum the rest of the notes, it opens up as a gate would open after pushing it from the center.

When setting a certain level of compression on your signal, you are creating a ceiling for your volume. Now knowing the effect it has to the tone i couldn't be more pleased, i have it right next to my guitar in the pedal chain and sometimes the Dyna comp is the only thing needed to get some amazing tones out of a Vox AC-15. To my ears it sounds like a classic Dyna Comp in that it’s a pretty unsubtle compressor that gives your tone an added fatness and significantly increases the sustain. I use mine in front of a Soul Food and a Custom Badass '78, and the Dyna Comp gets a smooth crunch out of the Soul Food, and gives the C' Badass the sweet sustain the pedal somewhat lacks on its own.I set it so that it’s almost all clean signal with only a touch of compression and I get all the comfort of having my signal compressed without completely ironing out the dynamics of my playing. If I had a bunch of other compression controls available (attack etc) then I'd only spend all my time tweaking instead of actually playing my damn guitar. My one gripe is that the perfect compression setting for the higher strings/notes will really muddy the lower notes at times, although I imagine that's true of most compressors. So, with MXR having joined the new wave of ‘blend knob’ compressors, once I decided to revisit the squishy-squashy world of compression it was natural that I would start with the MXR Dyna Comp Deluxe. It keep´s the sustain very well and cant be used too on solos , like a gain booster ( without letting your sound dirty, giving you a lot of sustain and , a bit more of gain , when combined with fuzzes, distortions or overdrive pedals.
