Wheels aren’t included in the dimensions but they must not add more than 5cm on to the size of the bag. If you’re flying with Ryanair, everyone gets a 40x20x25cm item of luggage you can take on board at no extra fee. This hybrid trolley backpack is 3OL in capacity, so considerably bigger than the backpack but is within EasyJet’s free under seat cabin bag allowance of 45x36x20cm.

If your case doesn't meet the size guidelines, you could up end having to put your case in the hold, which could cost a fee and leave you without your belongings close to hand. I liked how the straps were reinforced so it would be a lot comfier to carry, and how that it included a strap with some light padding. Other perks include the reinforced handles, a shoulder strap and a strap across the bag that allows you to slot your suitcase handle through it should you be travelling with that too. Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of our bags that comply with Ryanair’s size restrictions beautifly. Yes, people bring larger than allowed cabin luggage all the time and is blatantly ignored by check in and boarding personell. Most airlines will allow you to bring one carry-on bag and one small personal item (such as a purse, laptop bag, tote bag, shoulder bag or bum bag) that does not exceed 22 x 25 x 43 cm (9 x 10 x 17 inches). Liquids, gels and aerosols - each of them must come in a container that’s not over 100ml, and all of them must fit in a single transparent plastic zipper bag under 1 litre. Always check your airline's weight limit before travelling, and whether any additional items, like handbags and laptop bags, are included.

I agree, there is nothing good with neither Ryanair or WizzAir "priority" boarding besides the luggage. The rules vary for each airline but in general, Ryanair, easyJet, and Wizz Air allow you to travel with one small cabin bag (an under the seat bag) for free. When testing these bags, we look for function, design features, quality and overall value for money. One of the trickiest parts of travelling with a cabin bag rucksack is easily accessing your clothes and toiletries once you’ve reached your destination. From Copenhagen it's rarely below €20 one-way except the flights to the London area which are sometimes around 10. You might have seen the ‘ viral Ryanair bag’ doing the rounds on social media but I think this bag is better.

It’s not double lined but that does mean it’s incredibly lightweight if you’re trying to keep your load light when travelling. There’s a laptop sleeve too – though that is a little flimsy and I’d personally opt for the back zip instead which has a bit more padding. One of the major downsides of using a suitcase is that the wheels take up a lot of space, so what if there was a suitcase where you could detach the wheels? I’m very happy to share that a slightly larger backpack that’s around 30L can probably fit inside, but you definitely can’t overfill your backpack to the brim in the same way you could with the Ryanair viral bag. We also know how to make the most of your baggage allowance, recognized by flight attendants across Europe.Unfortunately, however, budget airlines no longer offer the option of a free, small suitcase on their flights. Therefore, I’d definitely make a note of some clothing items that you could quickly put on should you find that it doesn’t fit at the airport.

The pockets were ideal for storing wet wipes, nappies and snacks and made for the ideal baby travel bag. Ideal for storing your toiletries, makeup and electronics in, it means that you can save the bag’s deeper space for just your clothes. It’s kept lightweight with two ABS hard shell panels to protect your things with hard wearing polyester sandwiched in between. I’m not particularly surprised by this one though the easyJet baggage sizer does give me hope that you can wear a bigger bag and force it in if you really had to – however I have heard some people say that they weren’t allowed to ‘force’ it in when asked; it had to go in without much help. You can still bring a small cabin bag on board for free however, the bag should be no larger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm and has to fit under the seat. So, the bag can definitely handle easyJet’s larger allowance but it will take a little manoeuvring if you’ve packed the bag to the brim. So, DON'T pay for priority boarding if your bag is a little bit bigger than the "maximum" allowed size.
