Description

In addition to many never-before-seen images, every classic image - including some of the most iconic and reproduced photographs of all time, are included and presented in unprecedented detail and clarity. Arranged by mission, from pre-Apollo missions through Apollo 17, there are also sections on the development of space photography, photographic equipment, scans, images, and restoration, and a list of acronyms. This is as close as any of us will get to joining the Apollo astronauts on their historic missions to the moon—and it’s a lot closer than we ever thought possible. His new book, Apollo Remastered, reveals what happened when this British imaging specialist turned his hand to humanity's ultimate adventure. I thought that after 50 plus years I had seen it all - no new stories, no new photos, no new revelations!

The precision, the detail, and the validity of his work on the old film from early human spaceflight is breathtaking to me - such incredible valuable results and contributions to these historic events. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service. Andy Saunders hits every high note, highlights the human side to the missions, and takes us as close as we will likely get to stepping on the moon. Absolutely spectacular photography from all of the Apollo moon missions, plus a few from earlier space flights, and accompanying information for each mission. Each year there's a superlative gift book published, and this year's might just be Apollo Remastered: large-scale, jaw-dropping photography of our first trips to the Moon, remastered for the first time from the original film negatives. Saunders' use of image stacking to create photos out of the 16mm film footage is clever and invites the reader into some more candid moments. Followed by a concise review of space photography; the equipment and operation; the photographic objectives and execution; the scans, image processing and restoration. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. For the first time, every image has been digitally remastered from the original flight film, or HD transfers of the 16mm ‘movie’ film, to produce the highest quality Apollo photographs, and the most complete photographic record of these historic missions ever published. An absolutely beautiful book, which per my review of Apollo: VII - XVII I really should have worn the cotton gloves to avoid fingerprints on the high quality pages. This is as close as any of us will get to joining the Apollo astronauts on their historic missions to the moon-and it's a lot closer than we ever thought possible.

The bravery and commitment of the astronauts stood out when looking at the equipment they entrusted their lives to - one, two and three man capsules sat on top of a Saturn 5 rocket with less computing technology than a modern watch. Punctured with crisp whites and an unbelievable amount of visual detail - they wouldn’t look out of place in a movie like Interstellar or Gravity. Meticulously working on each image, Saunders has delivered the reader a time capsule worthy of anyone’s reinforced book shelves. Never-before-seen spacewalks and crystal-clear portraits of astronauts in their spacecraft, along with startling new visions of the Earth and the Moon, offer astounding new insight into one of our greatest endeavors. It’s also so much more than a collection of the most amazing photos, there’s masses of information and context - a wonderful history of all the Apollo missions.
