With dimensions of 30.7 x 9.4 x 9.4″, the CB-04 Hard Carrying Case with Wheels from Godox can hold a two or three-light kit with accessories, making it ideal for Smart, Mini Pioneer, and Mini Master series equipment. It has a similar design to that of travel suitcases, with inline skate wheels and a top handle that allow you to easily roll the bag along in smooth surfaces. For short distances, straps on each side of the bag can be connected via a detachable grip for simple hand carrying. I was then able to shoot past my sync speed. Of course, the flash loses power so I needed to make some adjustments to my flash power settings, increasing it to ½ . Jessica HSS-04 Jessica HSS-05 Jessica HSS-06 What About Your Camera? The SK400II-V Studio Flash Lighting features a built-in 2.4GHz flash receiver, which allows it to be used in conjunction with the PiXAPRO ST-III, ST-III+, ST-IV, or Pro AC 2.4GHz flash Triggers (GODOX X1, X2, XPro pr XT-16 triggers). This enables you to control the power of your flash head, turn the modelling lamp on/off, and trigger the flash. The GODOXSK400II0-V Studio Flash Lighting is a simple, easy-to-use unit for anyone who wishes to get started with flash photography. The GODOX SK400II-V Studio Flash Lighting range is the best introduction to studio flash! As you can see in the video, I got in my camera’s menus, entered the flash settings and set it to Auto FP, which is Fujifilm’s way of saying: “turn HSS on when needed”.

Fujifilm and Nikon require you to go into your camera’s menu and activate HSS. This will activate HSS in the transmitter and you can select higher shutter speeds. The SK400IIv‘s have recycle-times of just over one second at full power, enabling you to take shots more frequently, ensuring that you don’t miss any key moments. It also features an audible flash-ready tone, notifying you when the unit is ready for the next flash (the flash-ready tone can be switched off if not needed). The SK400II 2-Light Studio Flash Kit was put together by Godox for photographers who need to take studio-quality lighting on the road. The kit includes two SK400II Flash Heads. A 23.6 x 35.4″ softbox, two 40″ umbrellas, a standard reflector, and an XT16 Wireless Trigger with a range of 328′ are also provided. A hard, rolling kit case is included for storage and transport. I just described how to activate HSS in Godox flashes using a Fujifilm camera but, how about Canon, Sony or Nikon cameras? I don’t have any of those cameras, but I know people who do and they agreed to get on Google Meet calls so we could review how HSS works on Godox flashes with different camera systems. Thanks Jesus, Miguel and Augusto!

I set two bare flashes, one lighting the wall on camera right, another lighting Jessica from camera left. I controlled the flashes with the Godox XPro transmitter. The SK400IIv has an S-Type Bayonet fitting making it compatible with a wide range of light modifiers with an S-Type fitting such as Beauty Dishes, Softboxes, Reflectors and more. Even though the flashes we tested with (TT685, TT600, AD200 and AD600) have buttons labeled HSS, you don’t need to press them. The control signal indicating HSS mode comes from the transmitter.

The brain of the Godox wireless power control system, the shoe-mounted XT-16 Wireless Power-Control Flash Trigger and Transmitter 2.4G provides remote triggering as well as up to eight stops of wireless power control for select flashes equipped with the XTR-16 receiver. It features a reliable 2.4 GHz radio system with an impressive range of 328′ along with a choice of 16 channels. Users can sync at speeds up to 1/250 second and there are multiple power control settings for working with speedlights or studio flashes. Additionally, it runs on two easy-to-find AA batteries. I needed to activate HSS but, how? With Fujifilm it’s pretty simple, and I’ll get to Canon, Sony and Nikon in a minute. The SK400II-V Studio Flash Lighting features a 10W LED modelling lamp enabling you to get an idea of how your lighting is going to look before you take the image. Since the modelling lamp is LED as opposed t Halogen, it runs considerably cooler, making it safe for use in enclosed modifiers such as Snoots and Fresnel lenses etc. It also features an intelligent slave cell (Pre-flash detector system) cell that can be set to ignore a Pre-Flash, which will enable the SK400IIv to be used alongside any other speed lights or any other TTL strobe.

If you use Olympus or Panasonic cameras, and you use HSS with Godox flashes, please share your experience and setup in the comments section. With a guide number of 213′, the SK400II-V Studio Flash Monolight from Godox replaces the original 150W halogen lamp model with a 10W LED modeling lamp that draws very little power with great brightness. This 5700K color temperature studio flash source features a 0.1 to 1.5 second recycling time with flash durations as short as 1/2000 sec. Additionally, power is variable from 1/16 to full power. Triggering options include sync cord, optical, test button, and wireless power control. The SK400II-V weighs only 4.4 lb and runs on 110 to 120 VAC mains power. Setting the flashes to ⅛ power gave me the look that I wanted so I made a few more images. Jessica HSS-01 Jessica HSS-03High Speed Sync, or HSS, is a great feature in a flash. In a previous post I explained it in general terms, by going through how a shutter works, what is a camera’s flash sync speed, and how HSS actually works. However, I thought it would be better to actually show you. The Setup Power can be adjusted from 1/16 to 1/1 in 40 steps. The 150W modeling light has 3 modes: Off, Proportional, and Percentage (5 to 100%)
