Despite how much he uses his own life for inspiration for routines, it should come as no surprise that there is so much more.

Since then Michael has become one of the most successful comedians in the world, with his tours selling over four million tickets. Did he not think actually prepping and practicing might be worth his time, rather than just abandoning them?

Something I found interesting is that, while Michael McIntyre has of course achieved a lot, and I don't want to undermine his hard work, so much seemed to happen and grow because of his manager, Addison Cresswell. I listened to the audio version, narrated by Michael and I'm so glad I chose this format over the print. Anyway, “A Funny Life” is great – there are mixture of emotions; plenty of humour and jokes, but with further insights into Michael’s life. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there. Michael McIntyre's spot-on observational comedy and ability to turn everyday situations into masterclasses of human exasperation have struck a chord with millions of fans, making him one of the most successful comedians in the world.

Check out the videos where he steals food from people’s houses and serves it back to them, it’s a blast. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there. I’m sure if you’re a fan you’d enjoy this but in my opinion like his stand up and TV shows I feel it’s overrated and overhyped. In A Funny Life , Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there. One thing that is very apparent throughout the entire book is how important his manager, Addison Cresswell was to his career. I have been enjoying Michael McIntyre’s work for many years and saw him live in Cardiff back in 2018. He discusses these charity concerts/galas in a throwaway sentence -- I would have loved to know more about that process. I don’t watch a lot of comedy these days and I truly cannot stand what many people seem to love, but he’s an exception.
