To get an indication of how the wood will look once oiled, test a similar piece of wood or discrete area by applying a wet cloth to the bare wood. When disposing of cloths and rags make sure that they are soaked in water and fully dried out as they have the potential to spontaneously combust. When finishing teak, we recommend using specialised teak oil. Teak oil is not made out of teak. The oil is generally a mixture of linseed oil, varnish, mineral spirits and sometimes tung oil.

All oils are suitable for use on woodturning projects and the one you chose should be based on the desired look and finish you want. Toys – Danish Oil When using wood oil, there is basic health and safety that you should follow. Wood oil is a flammable product, therefore when you are using application equipment such as brushes and rags precautions should be taken. Wet application equipment can generate heat as the oil dries. To prevent this risk, cloths and rags (neither scrunched or rolled) should be left to dry on flat concrete surfaces. This surface should not be exposed to any sunlight or heat sources. Please note: The durability and sheen of the final finish is dependent on the number of coats applied. The more coats applied the higher the sheen and the more durable the finish will be. Please keep in mind that all oil-based products typically yellow in time. Using this over top of white paints will cause a slight yellowing effect. We recommend our Tough Coat for going over lighter colours to avoid yellowing. Application ToolUsing hair oil can be a great way to add shine and light reflection to dull hair. If that’s your main goal, then this is one a great option for you. The lightweight formula utilizes the power of hemisqualane—squalane derived from sugarcane—instead of silicone (which can create residue on the hair over time) to strengthen your strands. Hemisqualane works to strengthen the hair over time, while other ingredients in the formula, like meadowfoam esters and hibiscus extract, provide gloss, moisture, and antioxidant protection. Flooroil is designed to protect floors from heavy pedestrian traffic. They can come in a range of different finisheswhich can be used for application onto both softwoods and hardwoods. For a wooden floor, woodoils are preferred over varnish, because of their ability to bring out the wood's natural character. We recommendhardwax oils such as Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original. Children may put the toy in their mouth so you need to be sure it is treated with a safe to use oil. Danish Oil is hard wearing and non-toxic when fully dried. You could also use Boiled Linseed Oil or Tung Oil too. Chopping Boards – Cutting Board Oil Suitable for all types of bare wood, and will give a matt - satin finish depending upon the number of coats applied. We recommend using either a raw linseed oil or teak oil for rosewood. This type of oil can enhance the strong colours of rosewood surfaces and furniture.

Reclaimed wood, bare wood, table tops, floors, most any surface, painted finish or Milk Painted pieces. Once your finish is complete, leave it to cure for as long as you can. If you can leave it for a couple of months before you use it, it will be more durable. I see a lot of eager shooters take their newly oiled gun out on a rainy pheasant shoot the day after it is finished and express disappointment when it goes hazy. When finishing maple, we recommend using either a tung oil or a linseed oil. Both of these oils will bring out the curly, or tiger grain of the wood, finishing maple to the highest of standards.
