There is one place where the full scale of a melting Arctic can be best witnessed - from space. Based in the International Space Station, astronaut Jessica Meir looks down at forest fires across Europe and reflects how our changing weather patterns are interconnected. ForFrozen Planet IIAlex travelled to Pakistan, to capture the splendour of the remote Karakorum mountains, deep into Greenland’s ice sheet to document the seismic changes occurring there due to climate change and to the far east of Russia to film the illusive Siberian Tiger. This series will reveal how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there. We will discover why Australasia is full of peculiar and venomous wildlife; why North America is a land of opportunity where pioneers succeed; and what the consequences are for life racing to compete on the richest of all continents, South America.And then finally we look at how Greenland, the world’s largest island in the Arctic Ocean, is being affected by climate change. This culminates in a big calving event, with big bits of ice falling off the front of the ice sheet. We look at how this is affecting the Arctic’s wildlife, specifically a family of polar bears, and how hunting is getting harder and harder for them.

The first episode sets up these worlds and the fact that they're perhaps more varied than you might imagine. It also explains why these regions are cold. One Planet: Seven Worlds (w/t), the previously announced landmark series to be narrated Emmy ®-winner Sir David Attenborough, is a brand new ambitious seven-part landmark nature docu-series. Each one-hour episode will transport viewers to a single continent and tell the story of its spectacular wildlife and iconic landscapes. Previously announced, it will air on BBCA in 2020. There are around 500 individuals in the wild. They are three meters long from nose to tail tip. Their tail measure 1m alone and they have claws 10cm long. The following four episodes are all very different. Frozen Ocean focuses on the Arctic Ocean, the shape-shifting world of ice and water and all life that either lives on or under that sea ice. Frozen Peaks is about mountains and cold regions created by altitude rather than latitude. Frozen South is effectively the story of Antarctica as a continent starting on the sub-Antarctic islands, and then down all around the fringes of the continent and then finally to reveal life hiding under the ice. Frozen Lands is about the northern lands - the tundra and the seasonal forests. And the last episode - Our Frozen Planet – is effectively a science film. In this episode all the stories are told through scientists or indigenous people who live or work in these cold regions. Finally, in Antarctica, we meet Bill Fraser, who has dedicated 45 years of his life to studying the Adelie penguin. Over this period, he has witnessed changes in weather conditions and the extinction of entire colonies. These ‘canaries in the coal mine’ are a sign that all is not well, even in the remotest place on earth. And changes here have the potential to affect all of us, so an international group of scientists is on an urgent mission to assess the stability of a huge body of ice known as the Thwaites ice shelf. If this plug of ice melts and slips into the ocean, it will raise global sea levels, impacting coastal communities across the planet. In a press release, Camila Cabello said: "... In this final episode, we meet the scientists and people dedicating their lives to understanding what these changes mean, not just for the animals and people who live there, but for the world as a whole.
