You can use the plamp to grip a variety of objects because of several different clamping areas. The pressure from the different gripping areas are all precisely controlled by a thumbscrew to get just the right amount of grip. The segmented arm of your Plamp is approximately 19" long. If you do not need all this length, we encourage you to shorten your Plamp.
