There is a record which is perfect to test the theory, on which lots of matrix information has been collected by record sellers, to see how well it explains and dates the manufacture of Columbia records – the immortal Kind of Blue. It would have been interesting to listen to KoB at full DSD256 resolution but I guess it’s not possible. One even declared it was the first pressing because the matrix suffix started with a 1 (simply original tape mix, like all). Fiedler’s performance of Offenbach’s Gaite Parisienne combines delightfully lyrical music with spectacular sonics to create an unforgettable listening experience. Miles Davis and Gil Evans bridged styles and collaborated on high-concept projects three different times during their celebrated careers.

As you mentioned, title listing and Adderley spelling on the cover are incorrect across all my copies of KoB, including PC8163. To create the stereo Kind of Blue release, which was apparently recorded with Telefunken U-49 microphones, the prime three track tape (later discovered to be running 1. Each side with two charactor codes; 1H on side 1, 1D on side 2, which also has “ALL BLUES” as track 2 and the scratched in “TA”.Of the rest, you pays your money you makes your choice, condition is king: mint, looks un-played, still-sealed, storage find, you know the spiel, just forget “insanely rare! The pattern of deployment of lacquers is starting to come through loud and clear, resulting in a fatal blow to Conventional Wisdom™.

Kind of Blue: Legacy Edition – which includes final LP tracks, and all known alternate takes, studio sequences, and one false start — celebrates a masterwork and its prelude, offering the only other studio sides we have by Davis’ sextet, and a later live recording, illustrating how this band evolved and where they were headed on their journey toward immortality. Every UHQR will be hand inspected upon pressing completion, and only the truly flawless will be allowed to go to market. It's why the our engineers took every available measure to transport listeners to the March and April 1959 sessions that parlayed modal jazz into mainstream language. Like the Adderly misprint, sellers often talk it up as though something significant has been being found, like a rare penny black stamp misprint, worth millions! B) the modern remasters definitely equalise the mix, boosting bass and especially in the upper mids and treble.

o. another theory could crash and burn (If you want to let everyone know your KoB is a CD/, that joke is disallowed, don’t.

Cards on the table: this is one of my all-time favourite albums, so I’m going to get into some fairly extensive rambling here. AAA 100% Analogue This LP was Remastered using Pure Analogue Components Only, from the Master Tapes through to the Cutting Head. I have two copies of Miles Davis – Kind of Blues Lp’s but don’t know how old they are, here are the numbers on both Lp’s if anyone can help me date them. There are numerous instances where Kind of Blue reveals the influences that Miles brought with him to the sessions, as related by Francis Davis. It looks like the jackets didn’t really undergo any design changes throughout the original mono release era (1959-1967) so I think any mono jacket from that period should be the “correct” one–can anyone confirm this? Well, apart from the obvious legal issues (and the fact that big guns like Sony / Columbia tend to come down on perpetrators like a ton of bricks), the key issue for me is quality. But unless I got your article completely wrong, it just seems that there are several explanations for the matrix codes – my 1AA/1AA stereo copy should be a later one according to your guide, but obviously no copy after November 1959 had the wrong tracklist on Side B, so 1AA/1AA must have been pressed between September and November 1959 and would therefore be among the first pressings.
