Description

The Shark Handvac only has one power setting, so it’s straightforward to operate. The button for this is easy to reach when holding the cleaner. This is important, as you’ll need to switch it on and off regularly to maximise the short battery run-time.

In this article, we’ll show you exactly how to remove and clean both filters. We’ll also give you some tips for maintaining your Shark CH950UKT and keeping it in top condition. How to Clean the Shark CH950UKT Filters Step 1: Remove The Canister From the Vacuum Body It’s not quite the best suction we’ve seen from a handheld, though. We still think the Dyson V7 Trigger has better performance, but it’s considerably more expensive – and there’s not a huge difference in cleaning power. Around the Home You also can’t remove the brush bar from the pet tool, which makes removing hair more difficult. Additionally, there’s no option to remove and replace the battery. For these reasons, we don’t recommend buying the CH950UKT specifically as a car vacuum. It can still be useful for cleaning most of your car interior though. Stairs You also get a crevice tool and dusting brush included with the Shark Handvac. These tools are standard, but the crevice tool is somewhat on the short side, so it’s almost useless for getting between car seats. We still found it useful for areas like skirting boards, small gaps, and cobwebs though.Instead of needing to detach a canister, the CH950UKT uses a one-touch emptying system. There’s a button on the side for opening the dust compartment door. It releases the dirt as soon as you push it, so make sure you do this over a bin (ideally an outdoor bin). Long, rigid design makes it difficult to clean in awkward locations (such as car interiors or around computer monitors) The Dyson V7 Trigger is another handheld vacuum alternative to the Shark CH950UKT. They’re almost identical in weight with the Dyson a fraction lighter at 1.38kg Vs 1.39kg for the Shark. But Dyson has managed to get a larger 0.54 litre dust canister and a bigger, better battery. Now that the filter frame has been removed from the vacuum, you’ll be able to remove both filters individually. This is just a case of gently prising them out of the filter frame.

We found that the combination of lightweight design and mini motorised tool makes the Shark cordless handheld vacuum cleaner excellent for cleaning stairs. The bristles dig into carpet fibres to pull up dust and dirt. The crevice tool is also great for whizzing around the edges.

One of the best car vacuums you can buy

Thinking of buying the Shark CH950UKT Handvac? Read our review of this popular handheld vacuum before you make a decision. As you would expect from a handheld vacuum, the Handvac has a simple design with an easy-grip rear handle. Shark has also kept it lightweight at 1.39kg (similar to the 1.38kg Dyson V7 Trigger,) which means it’s convenient to use and suitable for people with arthritis or hand pain. The first step is to remove the vacuum canister and cleaning head from the main body. To do this, there is a yellow button on the underside of the vacuum. The Shark CH950UKT is a cordless handheld vacuum that’s designed to complement your corded vacuum cleaner, rather than replace it. We found that it’s a great tool for spot cleaning when you don’t want to get out your full-size vac, but the 10-minute run-time makes it unsuitable for longer cleaning sessions. The Shark Handvac CH950UKT is an excellent handheld vacuum cleaner. It doesn’t come with many advanced features and it’s not the most convenient handheld, but when it comes to cleaning performance we think it’s amongst the best around. The V7 has an impressive 30 minute run time and only takes 3.5 hours to charge. It’s significantly better than the 10 minutes run time and 4 hours charge time for the Shark. In terms of noise, the CH950UKT / Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro Plus measured at 88dB, which is about average for this kind of vacuum, and suction power stayed pretty consistent until right at the end, when you could hear it start to waver as the battery depleted. On the other hand, the WV200UK’s pet tool isn’t motorised, unlike the CH950UKT. This makes the CH950UKT a better option for pet hair and stubborn dirt. One of the standout features of the Shark CH950UKT is the mini motorised pet tool that clips onto the main nozzle. This has a rotating bristle brush that’s effective at getting out pet hair from carpets, upholstery, and other soft furnishings. Replace the filters in the frame, the frame into the dust cup, and the dust cup onto the main vacuum body.

We recommend cleaning your Shark’s filters at least once per month. You may need to wash them more regularly if you use the vacuum a lot. Shark sells replacement filters for the CH950UKT. The filters should last a long time, but if they become torn or otherwise damaged then it’s important to replace them. Need to clean your Shark CH950UKT? We’ve put together a simple guide to cleaning this handheld vacuum’s filters, including pictures showing how to perform each step. Only use cold water to clean the Shark CH950UKT’s filters. Never clean the filters with hot water, cleaning products, a dishwasher, or a machine wash. Step 4: Allow the Filters Time to Dry Fully Press this button, then gently pull the canister away from the vacuum’s handle. It should slide easily out of place.Instead, the Shark has a 2-part washable filter. While it’s not the best, we found that the filter still does a decent job of preventing particles from escaping. The CH950UKT filters are also easy to clean, although be sure to let both dry naturally for at least 24 hours before you use the vac again. Emptying and Cleaning
