With a high dynamic range of 144dB and THD+N of 0.00006%, it comfortably joins the ranks of its close competitors. The HA2-SE+ is an amplifier that works extremely well with dynamic headphones, but you can also plug in your favorite planar headphone as well. The price/quality ratio of the HA2-SE+ amplifier is very good and you will really enjoy the SE+ with most headphones. The new SE+ replaces the SF version on our list of Best Headphone Amplifiers, where all our Recommended Buys are listed. Tässä vertailussa L30 II veti selvästi pidemmän korren, koska Zen CAN:ista tuntui selvästi loppuvan vääntö kesken, vaikka äänenvoimakkuutta riittikin. Tämä ei kuitenkaan anna täyttä kuvaa laitteen suorituskyvystä, koska en voinut kuunnella Abyss:in kuulokkeita balansoituna. Vaikka Zen CAN pystyisi varmasti parempaankin, se ei tee L30 II:n suorituksesta yhtään huonompaa. Koska AB-1266 Phi on yksi vaikeimmin vahvistettavista kuulokkeista, näin hyvä suoritus Toppingin 150 euron vahvistimelta on hatunnoston arvoista. Output power: 3500mW x2 @16Ohms THD+N <0.1%, 2700mW x2 @32Ohms THD+N <0.1%, 2000mW x2 @64Ohms THD+N<0.1%, 560mW x2 @300Ohms THD+N<0.1%

You can access this menu by pressing and holding the multifunction touch button on the front panel for 5 seconds while the device is on standby. When you are done adjusting the settings, press and hold the same button again and when you see 8-8 on the screen, it means that you have successfully saved the settings. I recommend using the remote control for the setup menu as it is both easier and more practical. Overall tonality is similar on both amplifiers, with the SP200 sounding slightly brighter. It’s interesting though, that while the SP200 ended up sounding slightly brighter, the L30 seems to have a slightly splashier and less defined treble. Besides the limited headroom I’ve experienced with difficult loads and the weaker slam with high-end planar-magnetics, the left to right soundstage size did also take a hit. I can explain why that is happening: a reference true balanced-DAC will be offering a close to zero channel crosstalk on its balanced outputs and a less impressive number with much higher channel crosstalk on its RCA outputs. The small soundstage I’m experiencing is not only the fault of the little L30, but also of the DAC that feeds it. The AE Euforia is an amplifier that is playing with the big boys on the market, and if you’re in the market for a high-end tube amp, the AE with its €2900 price, simply is a no-brainer. The AE offers a great sound stage, both in width and depth, combined with excellent layering, timbre, extension, and speed. The detail retrieval is excellent and at the same time, the AE sounds incredibly musical. The Eufoaria AE will immerse you in your music, it’s awesome. The L30 II is about twice as powerful as the original model, with 3.5W @16Ohms and 560mW @300Ohms. This should be sufficient power to drive almost any pair of headphones. Thankfully with the increase in power, Topping redesigned the three gain levels (-14dB/0dB/16.5dB, L/M/H) to enable better pairing for sensitive loads and IEMs and headphones requiring high power.

In pure DAC mode, the E30 II lets the DSD signal bypass the DATT Soft Mute and ∆E Modulator to provide pure/direct DSD performance. DAC + Preamp application The original €1900 Euforia still gives you great value, performance, and musicality and if your budget doesn’t extend AE far, this still is a highly recommended amplifier. The AE, however, blows it away on all fronts with improvements everywhere.

After a certain point, DACs can probably be selected by what features they offer rather than likely inaudible measurements. Critics of Topping’s gear often cite marginal differences in the newer versions. Sure, the measured performance is superior to the older version, but there is unlikely much reason to upgrade if you have the original E30. Topping has had a bit of a roller-coaster ride over the last few years with headphone audiophiles. At their peak, Topping products were the darlings of the measurements-are-all crowd, and many felt they set the price-for-performance standard. But lately, it seems things have cooled off a bit, and the Topping hype is far quieter. Topping’s E30 II & L30 II units naturally have a good synergy with each other. Both units are technically capable and have a clean, neutral, and resolving sound signature. They have a very good resolution and a clean sound signature that impressed me from the first listen. No matter what headphones I paired it with in my inventory, I was satisfied with the performance. Extended highs, clean mids without saturation, and a really satisfying bass reproduction are just a few of the things I experienced with the Hifiman Edition XS.Output power: 3500mW x2 @16Ohms THD+N <0.1%, 2700mW x2 @32Ohms THD+N <0.1%, 2000mW x2 @64Ohms THD+N<0.1%, 560mW x2 @300Ohms THD+N<0.1%

The final thing to discover is the quite wide range Topping did to the gain. With three positions as well, it can be set to low, mid, and high with the middle one as the 0dB or default gain.

Gain setting

The soundstage on the L30 slightly narrow, but does not end up feeling closed in. There’s no wall at the end of the sound, but the sound seems to just end quite near the head. With good detail retrieval, my headphones were able to create a strikingly tangible image with the L30 in the system

In terms of power, the SP200 has quite a bit more power, as I can’t even max out the volume dial on the SP200 on any headphone that I own, while I end up pushing the L30 a bit more. But then again, both amplifiers were able to power all my headphones to a respectable level, so I’m okay with the power output on both. Tuning It would seem unfair for me to be comparing these 2 amplifiers, as the SP200’s price tag is double that of the Topping. With the SP200 has balanced input and output connectors, the entire circuit inside the amp is just single-ended, so balanced here is just for convenience. Without the supposed advantage of balanced circuitry, I think it’s almost fair to compare the 2 amps. Power With a pre-amp out, low noise floor, natural tonality, lots of power at 3.5W into 16Ω, and a low output impedance for the headphone out, the L30 is a versatile little amplifier that can be a great fit to supplement a growing collection of headphones. Topping L30 Specifications The warranty and user manual are concealing the brown box on the left marked with the region and voltage the power supply inside accepts. What Topping sent me though is the 110V version and since it outputs a not-so-common 15VAC I had to dig up my L30 to exchange power supply in the meantime. Topping claims the E30 II DAC makes significant improvements over its predecessor with dual DAC chips, better SINAD / SNR / dynamic range / noise level, and a discrete LNRD (low noise reference driver) circuit to filter out 5V power input noise.Take into account the immense elasticity of the product, letting you configure it to your needs, and the extreme output power you will be faced with one tough decision not to get the Lyr 3 when you’re looking for a new affordable desktop amplifier. The way the L30 II places objects helps in letting fainter effects like chimes, pops, and more peak through when fixed in a distant plane. Synergy Power Switch-mode power supplies are the most prevalent power supplies used in most electronics today, because of low manufacturing costs, and the ability to accept a wider range of voltage input from 110V to 220V. I can only tip my head to the people behind Flux Lab Acoustics for this marvel. It is well-engineered, robustly made, and sounds bloody wonderful. Frankly speaking, I will always prefer performance over aesthetics, so the fact that the chassis has not received any updates does not affect me much. However, I know that there are those of you who have been waiting for a new design with more modern, softer, and more aesthetic design lines. Maybe next time Topping will surprise us and give us a. design update without bumping up the price, who knows? Controls & UI
