It's a good way to make comics accessible to kids who might otherwise be intimated by the sheer volume of Marvel comics there are out there.

The plot is fast-paced and builds towards the inevitable final confrontation between our hero and The Stranger. De plus, après le succès du film sur le multivers, il ne fait aucun doute que Miles Morales est devenu le chouchou du public. It's not until you read the 'About The Author' page at the end of this book that you learn that this is the second volume written by Justin A. paperback books always scare me and I was nervous the quality of the paper would be left to be desired for but that's not the case with this book and the other one onto he same league. Nice up to date twist with the video game plot and a few interesting new villains, especially The Stranger.B. Cebulski is doing such an awful job that the overall quality of work coming from the House of Ideas is severely lacking.

The second original middle-grade full-colour graphic novel starring Miles Morales, by bestselling author Justin A. But nowhere on the cover (front and back), nor inside this book are potential first time readers alerted that this is the second volume in a series until the back of the book! Granderson, a character from the last book, who gained superhuman powers from the last villain experimenting with Terrigen gasses. The Stranger plans to freeze people in a state of unexplained hibernation and then turn half the population against the other half.

This reads very much like a comic book, which is appropriate given the topic, and has lots of chase scenes, things blowing up, and action on the pages. Matters take an even more serious turn for the worse when members of Spider-Man’s friends and family are frozen. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Our favorite Afro-Latino superhero Miles Morales is back and settling a bit uncomfortably into his role as Spider-Man. Stranger Tides also gives Miles more experience of being a superhero however, no other “popular” superheroes show up just yet to partner with him.

After he finishes each one I get him another and he gets super excited about it while waiting for the next book! The artwork of main artist Pablo Leon ( captures the visual tone of the first Spider-Verse film amazingly well. The actual ending felt tacked on and the Stranger is beat in no time even though he's a Fantastic Four level villain. Representation matters for us and he doesn’t like to read, but he will read these books really quickly! Reynolds tells a graphic story about Spider-Man, holding nothing back: emotions, likes, dislikes, and three lessons for the reader to learn and use in their own lives when dealing with a problem.Miles (now as Spider-Man) is soon tangled in a web of plans created by the Stranger, a powerful, superintelligent extraterrestrial with plans to kill half of Earth’s population in the name of ‘justice’.

When half the world freezes, Miles must learn to depend on others to fix it… especially when someone he loves dearly is in trouble! So much of Miles' responsibilities come down to bucking what his personal desires are (hanging with friends and video games) and sacrificing for the greater good. Their banter and intimacy toes the bromance line as most comic relationships are apt to do, but moreover it’s always great normalizing boys saying “I love you” to their friends, genuinely caring for one another’s mental health, etc. After the Stranger's plan is revealed, miles spends more time being frustrated than trying to save the world.Miles Morales is informed of this by Trinity, who was a villain in the previous book but had a change of heart in this one. Sadly, that final confrontation feels somewhat underpowered and anti-climatic in comparison with the preceding story. I really like that the author is African American and my 9yo loves these books and is obsessed with Miles Morales. He plays a crucial part in the final battle with the Stranger, which I found really confusing, but I won’t say anything to prevent spoilers. He hangs out in northeast Ohio with his family and likes it, and is probably somewhere, right now, dancing terribly.
