Description

Flair Pro 2 has a 46 mm portafilter and a 70 ml reservoir, which is a larger capacity compared to other Flair models. The portafilter and the dispersion screen are made of stainless steel and not plastic. Flair 58 is a good choice if you want something that gets close to a semi-automatic espresso machine but where you can control the pressure. Opt for this if you have the budget. Reinigung der Flair Pro-2 Kaffeemaschine Pre-heating of group head: My kettle is a 1.2L Hario on a gas stove. I did 2 pre-heats of the group head with water just off the boil prior to putting the head on the portafilter to fill again and pull the shot. I added the optional adhesive temp strip to the group head at the base, and while I didn't validate its accuracy it appears consistent so should be useful for day-to-day shot pulls as a relative indicator the group head is hot enough. At one point I wanted to see how high a temp I could record on the temp strip by doing 6 successive pre-heats, but found it leveled off after 3 pre-heats at 194F on the strip.

MAJOR BREWING UPGRADES – The Flair PRO 2 features three upgrades over Flair’s other manual espresso makers including a removable stainless steel spout, an enhanced all-stainless steel bottomless portafilter with improved flow dynamics, and a silicone lever grip for better brewing ergonomics. Maintaining all the performance of the original PRO, the PRO 2 features four key upgrades, including: Next, add more water through the top of the cylinder until the water is visible in the well. Attach the stem of the pressure gage into the well (see photo above). Then, place the brew head onto the Flair and lower the lever to brew. It should take about 35 to 45 seconds in total and the pressure gauge should indicate it’s at the 6 to 9 bar pressure level. Espresso: Brews professional-level espresso, an art form of sorts These manual espresso makers are light and portable, weighing about five pounds upwards, even though they have a stainless steel build.Ultimately, it comes down to what your budget is and how portable of a manual espresso-maker you desire. If you want a little less work and the option to steam milk, the Europicola espresso machine by La Pavoni may be in your best interest. Butif you’re interested in a totally manual espresso maker that travels well, the Flair Pro 2 is a great buy. Final Thoughts: Buy it if you love the art of making espresso or want to learn it Bei dieser Maschine muss man sich die Zeit nehmen, alles vorzubereiten, das Wasser zu erhitzen, die Teile vorzuwärmen und so weiter. Grinder: Bought a new Lido ET grinder currently dialed in at 4 marks more coarse than zero. Ran a bag of inexpensive beans through it to break in the burrs and get an initial dial in for the Pro2. Used RDT to reduce static which works great.

To set the Flair Pro 2 up for first use, I cleaned all of the removable parts with warm water and soap. Next, I put it together following the included instructions. The first thing to do is to attach the lever component to the base. This step was intuitive as the two pieces fit right together (see photo above). The stainless steel dirt tray fits snugly onto the Flair base. After this, it got a bit more complicated.

Put moka pot base and kettle on the gas stove. Once the moka base is boiling, put group head on. Meanwhile, prep coffee and place portafilter into lever holder. When temp strip on group head is at desired temp (usually 203F), place on portafilter, pour in water from kettle, attach gauge and start pull. Very little wait time between any of these steps and the long pole is the water starting to boil. The moka pot base pre-heat is the best workflow improvement here. This model has a professional grade 58 mm portafilter (hence the name) with a wooden handle. It’s the same portafilter of typical semi-automatics. The espresso maker has a robust build and a new lever design that further adds to ease of use.

You get a preheat cap with Pro models. This silicone lid easily slides onto the bottom of the brew head, so you can pour water into the cylinder — there’s no need to use the bowl as is the case with the more basic Flair espresso maker. Flair manual espresso maker has a stainless steel brewing head and a rigid container that doesn’t expand with pressure, so it makes a consistent cup of delicious espresso every time. Each Flair manual espresso maker has a cylinder with a maximum water capacity of 90 ml, so it’s easy to control the extraction time between 30 and 45 seconds. Your arm controls how much pressure you apply and not the machine’s brew head. Next, it’s time to prepare the brew head (consists of the portafilter, plunger, and cylinder). Add the preheat cap onto the bottom of the cylinder and fill it with the water that was previously heating. Leave the water in for 30 seconds and then pour it out and remove the preheat cap. This is to preheat the brew head, which helps to produce a well-extracted shot (so in other words, don’t skip this step). Then, place the cylinder on top of the portafilter. To brew an espresso with the Flair Pro 2 first things first — grind the beans (this is where the burr grinder comes in). At the same time, start to heat the water to a temperature somewhere between 194°F and 204°F.Go ahead and grind about 16 grams of beans to a very fine grind. Place the grounds inside of the dosing cup and tamp them down gently with the tamping cap. Remove the funnel and place the screen on top of the grounds now. All Flair espresso machines are pretty similar (except for Flair 58). If you understand one, you understand all of them, so here’s a rundown of their design, use, and value. Design
